For Kids

early orthodonticsThere are certain conditions that may qualify a child for early prevention orthodontics. These may include things like crossbites, crowded teeth or narrow arches. If crowded teeth are fixed at an earlier age, they allow more room for adult teeth to come in and may in turn reduce the need for teeth pulling later in life.

The American Association of Orthodontists and Dr. Garcia recommend kids see an orthodontist for an initial evaluation at age 7. At this age, permanent teeth are starting to replace baby teeth and it’s the perfect time to start tracking your child’s jaw growth and development. If necessary, Dr. Garcia may suggest getting your child started with the Phase One treatment to take advantage of bones that are still growing and better address problems before they develop fully.

Problems to Look For:

  • Trouble breaking a thumb-sucking habit
  • Speech impediment
  • Jaws come together in an abnormal way when they bite
  • Teeth do not come together or do so in an irregular manner
  • Breathing issues
  • Teeth protrude from the upper or lower jaw
  • Problems with chewing and biting
  • Early or late loss of baby teeth (they should start losing teeth at age 5 and have their adult teeth by age 13)

For Teens

At Braces By Garcia we know how important it is to have a smile you’re proud of! We love seeing the confidence of our teen patients grow with each visit to our office. Ready to get started on your new smile?

There are several orthodontic treatment options for teens just like you!

One of the most popular braces options for teens is our self-ligating braces that come in both metal and clear! With this revolutionary self-ligating technology, the metal wire is held into place by a movable component instead of elastic ties. This allows your teeth to move more freely to provide a more comfortable orthodontic experience.

Another great option for our teen orthodontic patients is Invisalign Teen®, which uses a series of clear, removable trays to straighten your smile! No metal brackets or wires so you can enjoy the foods you love without any restrictions and brush and floss normally. You’ll have the confidence to show off your smile every day!

invisalign teenWe are a certified provider of Invisalign Teen® in Temecula and surrounding areas.

What does Invisalign cost?

This is one of the first questions we are asked. Our patients are usually surprised to hear that Invisalign treatment is the SAME COST as metal braces. The exact cost of course will depend on the severity of your case and length of treatment needed.

Wondering about the Invisalign process? It’s easy!

invisalignStep 1: Come in for a free Invisalign consultation.  Dr. Garcia will conduct a thorough exam to determine if you would be a good candidate for Invisalign

Step 2: We’ll customize your treatment plan. Dr. Garcia and our team will take digital X-Rays and impressions of your teeth to create a digital 3D image. From these images, we’ll be able to map out a precise treatment plan.

Step 3: You’ll receive your customized aligners. Yay for aligner pickup day! Once your custom aligners are fabricated, you can pick them up from our office and start your treatment! As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently shift into place.

Step 4: Wear a new aligner set every 2 weeks (or as prescribed by Dr. Garcia), advancing you to the next stage of treatment. To monitor your progress, you will have occasional check-ups with Dr. Garcia, typically every 6 weeks. For best results and a speedy outcome, be sure to wear your aligners at least 20-22 hours per day, only taking them out to eat and brush and floss your teeth!

Surgical

If surgery is required to correct jaw issues, Dr. Garcia will collaborate with your oral and maxillofacial surgeon to ensure a successful outcome.  Dr. Garcia will make any necessary changes to your treatment once surgery is complete. Braces may be required for six months to a year after surgery at which point, you will be issued a retainer to ensure the spacing and alignment of teeth remain where they need to be.

Orthodontic surgery can have great results for those who suffer from jaw issues and pain. Above all, it is part of the process in giving you the radiant and healthy smile you deserve.

Retention

RETAINERCongratulations! You’ve completed your orthodontic treatment. Well, sort of! Now it’s time for one of the most important phases of your treatment: RETENTION! We’ve worked so hard to accomplish your beautiful, straight smile so we want to keep it that way!

When braces are removed, teeth have a tendency to want to shift back to their original positions. To prevent this from happening, you must wear your retainers are prescribed by Dr. Garcia.

How Long Should I Wear Retainers?

Bottom line…retainers are for LIFE! Wear them as directed by Dr. Garcia, every single day!

How Do I Clean My Retainers?

When retainers are removed, brush them carefully with your toothbrush and toothpaste to remove plaque. If plaque builds up on your retainer, you may use “Efferdent,” a retainer cleaner, to clean them. When not wearing your retainers, be sure to put them in the case provided so Fido doesn’t get ahold of them!
